Job Summary/Description:
WLOX is looking for a Multimedia Journalist who is a self-starter with good news judgment. This person will research, shoot, write, edit, and present news stories on air and online. We're looking for someone who will keep up with what's happening in the community, investigate leads, and pitch story ideas daily.
Duties/Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):
- Write, shoot, and edit stories for both TV and digital platforms
- Report live on breaking news, severe weather, or community events
- Research, pitch, and set up news stories
- Manage tight deadlines and be able to make sound split-second decisions during live broadcasts
- Opportunities for fill-in anchoring based on interest and ability
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Communications/Journalism or equivalent degree is preferred
- General interest in news/current events
- Ability to collaborate with other team members, but also work independently and under a deadline
- Knowledge of proper use of social media in covering news
- Ability to lift and carry equipment including tripod, camera, and lights.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record
