We're looking for a dynamic and strategic General Sales Manager to lead our sales operations in the Indianapolis market. The ideal candidate will bring a strong track record in sales leadership, team development, and revenue generation across both traditional and digital platforms. This role is responsible for driving market growth, mentoring a high-performing sales team, and fostering strong client relationships.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee and coordinate sales efforts for Radio One's local sales team, providing leadership and strategic direction to enhance their ongoing sales initiatives including:
Provide continuous education to the local radio sales team toensure they stay informed on industry trends.
Coach local sales staff on effectively leveraging Radio One properties to develop revenue-generating programs.
Tracks sales performance and provides regular updates to senior management.
Assist the sales team by reviewing proposals and guiding client negotiations.
Develops, implements, and communicates effective sales strategies and action plans.
Collaborates with the Digital Sales Manager to promote and grow digital and interactive product offerings.
Leads sales and marketing initiatives for designated station events.
Actively participates in sales meetings to drive team alignment and performance.
Recruits, trains, mentors, and motivates sales and support staff, providing ongoing coaching and development.
Designs and manages commission structures and incentive programs to drive results.
Coordinates with the traffic department to manage inventory and pricing effectively.
Works cross-functionally with other departments to align sales activities.
Joins team members on client and prospect calls to support sales efforts.
Serves as a representative of Radio One at community events, trade shows, and industry functions.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Must be able to effectively manage the sales team.
Understands and has a track record of success working in the national sales arena.
Ability to maximize revenues through inventory management and serving customer needs.
Present a positive and professional attitude and presence at all station events
The ability to multitask and prioritize job responsibilities under pressure in a non-traditional schedule fast-paced live media environment is a
Strong attention to detail and solid organizational and project management skills
Able to demonstrate big picture thinking as well as an ability to manage day-to-day details
Complies with Network and Urban One’s mandatory training and adheres to related course deadlines
Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and direct a team to include but not limited to:
Provide regular constructive feedback
Resolve issues/conflicts with diplomacy in a timely manner
Provide ongoing guidance and support for growth and development
Deploy effective coaching skills
Practical understanding of anti-harassment and discrimination laws
Ability to effectively administer performance reviews, and corrective action plans as appropriate.
Ensure team (s) attend mandatory department and/or mandatory company training (s) as required.
Submit to a criminal background check

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university
Two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
