Job Summary/Description:
WVVA TV in Bluefield, WV, a Gray Television station, has an opening for a full-time, high-energy Sports Anchor/Multimedia Journalist. If you have a passion for sports, we have an opportunity for you! We want a journalist to tell stories about the people in sports, the impact on the community, their schools, and their followers. We like to report the runs, hits, and errors—we love the why, the how, and the passion with the competition. Our next Sports Anchor/Multimedia Journalist will have a passion for storytelling and local sports! The perfect individual will be able to write, edit, and shoot engaging, informative, and compelling sports content and develop and execute enterprise stories on a regular basis with accuracy and fairness, and engage viewers with social and digital platforms.
Duties/Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
• Anchor weekend sports.
• Write, edit, and shoot sports content daily.
• Consistently contribute to sports content on the station's social and digital platforms.
• Maintain an unequivocal commitment to accuracy, fairness, and ethics.
• Meet daily deadlines.
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field preferred.
• Some experience as a sports multimedia journalist in a television newsroom is preferred.
• Exceptional on-camera presence and delivery.
• A disciplined individual with the ability to work independently with a flexible schedule is a must.
• Knowledge of ENPS and Edius preferred.
• Professional knowledge of broadcast news operations is a plus.
• Must have a valid driver's license and pass a driver's record check.
