Job Summary/Description:
WNDU is searching for a skilled journalist to join our newsroom as an Anchor/Multi-Media Journalist. The chosen candidate will anchor the weekend evening news with ample fill-in opportunities for weekday anchoring. The shift includes reporting three days a week. We are searching for an eager candidate who is looking to grow while contributing to a Legacy broadcast operation.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Ability to tell complicated stories with "liveability" required
* Must possess a strong understanding of daily newscast content and work in conjunction with producers to develop a dynamic product
* Strong initiative, attention to detail, and advanced ethical decision-making skills required
* Present information in a fair, unbiased manner
* Develop story ideas to present, including digital components, in morning/afternoon news meetings. Interview subjects and research facts for credibility
* Deliver content on social media and the web. Shoot and Edit video and stories for broadcast
* Ability to anchor, report, go live, field anchor, and present onset debriefs when needed
* Produce and anchor Podcasts as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
* A bachelor's degree in Journalism or a related field is preferred
* Excellent time management skills and an ability to prioritize tasks and information under pressure are required
* Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
* Must have scheduling flexibility
* Must possess a valid driver’s license; A motor vehicle record check is required before hiring.
* Management has the right to alter assignments as needed.
* Demonstrate solid writing skills with accuracy and an unbiased manner for digital platforms
