Job Summary/Description:
WAVE in Louisville, Kentucky, is looking for a Weekend News Anchor/Reporter to join our award-winning team of Journalists.
WAVE, the NBC affiliate in Louisville, Kentucky, has an immediate opening for a Weekend Anchor and Reporter. In addition to anchoring the highly-rated weekend evening newscasts, this position also reports three weekdays. We are looking for a dynamic, high-level storyteller who delivers every day. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate excellent news judgment, be a self-starter, an excellent and clear communicator, and a team player.
Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develop sources within the community and report on timely, important, and impactful issues.
- Produce and deliver day-turns three weekdays, as well as special event coverage. Our anchors are expected to write and contribute daily to newscasts.
- Write and post daily on all digital platforms as new information is learned. This includes WAVE3.com, social media, our news app, OTT, and within our television newscasts.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- BA degree in broadcasting or equivalent work experience
- Expert-level ad-libbing skills
- Excellent shooting, writing, and editing skills
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Strong broadcast and AP style writing skills
- Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Strong work ethic, organizational, and leadership skills. Must be able to work quickly, meet deadlines, multitask, and show composure, especially during breaking news.
