Grand Slam Track is a premier global professional track league featuring matchups between the fastest stars in the sport. Founded by track legend Michael Johnson, the league will host four annual Slams taking place between April and September, with eight Racers competing in one of 12 event groups. At the beginning of each season, four Racers per group make the starting roster to contest each Slam. The next four Racers in each group are the Challengers, whose recent performances unlock a lane to the most compelling head-to-head clashes on earth. Each athlete will compete twice over the course of the weekend with the best combined placing determining the Slam champion.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are seeking an experienced Broadcast Technology Director to lead and optimize our broadcast technology infrastructure for live sports productions. This role requires a strong understanding of broadcast connectivity, remote production workflows, signal ingress/egress, video management platforms, and media asset management (MAM) systems. The ideal candidate will balance vendor management with hands-on technical expertise, ensuring seamless integration of emerging technologies into our sports broadcasting operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Architect and implement broadcast technology solutions for live sports production, ensuring high reliability and efficiency.
- Oversee connectivity and networking for remote locations, including fiber, satellite, IP, and bonded cellular solutions.
- Manage signal ingress/egress workflows, ensuring seamless delivery from the field to production and distribution platforms.
- Integrate and maintain video management platforms (VMPs) and media asset management (MAM) systems to optimize content storage, retrieval, and distribution.
- Stay ahead of industry trends, evaluating new technologies to improve workflow efficiency and content delivery.
- Work closely with production teams to design and support live remote production setups.
- Troubleshoot and optimize real-time broadcast feeds and signal paths across multiple locations.
- Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure adherence to industry best practices.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to enhance redundancy, scalability, and security of broadcast infrastructure.
- Serve as the key liaison with technology vendors, service providers, and third-party partners.
- Negotiate contracts and service level agreements (SLAs) to ensure cost-effective and high-quality solutions.
- Oversee the deployment and maintenance of vendor-provided hardware and software solutions.
- Partner with IT, engineering, and production teams to integrate broadcast and cloud-based workflows.
- Work alongside media rights holders and distribution partners to meet technical requirements.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and project planning for technology investments.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- 8+ years of experience in broadcast technology, sports production, or media engineering.
- Strong expertise in IP-based broadcasting, cloud-based workflows, and remote production connectivity.
- Hands-on experience with video compression, encoding/decoding, and live signal transport technologies.
- Proficiency with media asset management systems (MAM) and video management platforms (VMP).
- Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or other cloud services for live production and media workflows.
- Understanding of broadcast networking (SDI, NDI, SMPTE 2110, SRT, Zixi, RTMP, etc.).
- Proven ability to manage vendors while contributing as an individual technical expert.
- Strong project management and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to issue resolution.
Preferred:
- Experience with live streaming technology and OTT distribution.
- Previous experience working in a live sports broadcast environment.
- Familiarity with automation, orchestration, and software-defined workflows for media production.
