The Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Oklahoma seeks outstanding candidates for two renewable term Instructor positions in Digital Video Storytelling and Production, to begin in Fall 2026. These instructors will join an award-winning program in Creative Media Production.
There are currently two positions open for Instructor positions in Creative Media Production in this college. To be considered for both positions, please apply for each of the positions listed on Interfolio.
Faculty in the Creative Media Production area teach emerging and digital technologies so students can create content for narrative, documentary, and corporate storytelling.
We are exceptionally student-focused and work to nurture storytellers in both skills and conceptual learning. The Broadcast Education Association (BEA) has ranked Gaylord College #1 in Film and Video Production for the last four years. This year, the college was also ranked the #1 overall media program in the nation.
The successful candidate would be required to teach the following: single camera production, post-production, audio, multi-camera production, production management and/or media writing. They will also have opportunities to teach at the graduate level, including a new MFA in creative media expected to start in Fall 2026. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to help lead the student-run narrative production company Greenlight Creative Productions which last year produced the award-winning student feature film, Neon. The person filling this position will have the expectation of summer work as part of their involvement with Greenlight Creative Productions.
The workload distribution for this position is 80% teaching and 20% service.
The College has state-of-the-art facilities. Faculty hired in this position will actively contribute to the life of the college through superior teaching, innovative curriculum development, and service opportunities such as cultivating industry connections. They will join a highly engaged Creative Media Production faculty who focus on narrative, documentary, podcasting, and client-based production in both the undergraduate and graduate programs.
