The Blue Ridge Bobcats Pro Hockey Team of the FPHL offers an opportunity to college students looking to gain real-world broadcasting, media relations & communications experience and position themselves for a career in the Sports Industry upon graduation. The ideal candidate would be experienced in broadcasting, required to attend all home games (in-person).
FUNCTIONS:
The Broadcasting Intern will be responsible for assisting the Play By Play Broadcaster along with department staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in broadcasting work for all Bobcats home games.
- Assist in the creation of all home and away game highlights.
- Write feature articles & create video content to be published on the Bobcats website and other online platforms.
- Compile game notes, bios, game previews, game recaps, and statistical packages for all personnel needed and communication channels following league requirements & guidelines.
- Other projects and tasks as assigned by the department personnel.
Desired Qualifications:
- Broadcasting experience
- Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program and eligible for college credit.
- Interested in pursuing a career in sports
- Available 20-25 hours per week, including nights, weekends, and game days.
- Demonstrated writing and grammar proficiency in AP Style.
- Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism within a professional sports environment and in media work zones.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) & Adobe Creative Cloud (Adobe Premiere, InDesign, Photoshop)
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Familiarity with Ice Hockey (preferred but not required)
- Flexibility in terms of handling a variety of assignments under tight deadlines while maintaining a strong focus on branding, consistency and quality.
