Senior Manager, Marketing
The UMC team works four days a week from our award-winning creative campus located in Liberty Village, Toronto, and one day to work virtually.
Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the Senior Manager, Marketing will provide support to the Marketing department and will contribute to a positive work environment with an emphasis on a ‘team’ concept. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic, creative and energetic people leader with a passion for music. Core functions involve supporting the Marketing team’s efforts in the development and management of artist brand strategy campaigns to increase awareness, fan engagement, and consumption around an artist’s body of work.
How You’ll Lead:
- Oversee all aspects of marketing, project and product management, for artists signed domestically (here in Canada) and through international UMG label partners
- People manage and coach a small marketing team
- Develop and execute release strategies for each artist’s project including leading team meetings, project timelines, creation of content, streaming and advertising strategies, to grow audience and drive consumption
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to build/support an artist’s brand and identity
- Consulting with A&R, Promotion, Creative, Commercial Affairs, Digital Strategy and Publicity teams on rollout plans to maximize opportunities and exposure for each artist project
- Strategize ways to explore new digital platforms and develop relationships to maximize audience reach, increasing engagement, activity and building artist profiles in Canada and Globally
- Working closely with Digital Strategy to execute ongoing campaigns with their various online platforms, influencer agencies and more
- Coordinate and host external business partners at Concerts and Industry Functions
- Proactively seek out innovative ways to continually improve and develop your marketing campaigns and create opportunities for your roster of artists
- Identify viral, digital, and word-of-mouth marketing opportunities with the goal of driving traffic to artist streaming profiles, fan acquisition, and building brand awareness for artists
- Quarterback the execution of artist assets (bios, lyric videos, website, content, digital streaming platform, social media account set up/updates, photo shoots and video shoots)
- Project manage and work closely with the creative team on the development of marketing materials (album art, social and single graphics, logos, artist websites, radio, print, on-line and OOH advertising creative, and other content needs)
- Manage relationships with internal departments, international contacts, Artist Managers, Artist Agents, promoters and third-party contacts
What You Bring:
- 5-7 years of marketing experience in the music entertainment industry
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in marketing, music, media and/or entertainment
- People management experience with the proven ability coach and inspire
- Experience creating and leading marketing campaigns and overall projects
- Knowledgeable about how the music business operates and about the evolving digital & streaming landscape
- Ability to work within assigned budgets & timelines
- Exceptional communication skills, organizational, planning and priority setting skills
- Proficiency in Photoshop and Premier for photo and video editing is an asset
- Availability to work weekends and evenings
- Knowledge of the Quebec music industry is an asset
- Ability to speak French fluently is an asset
