Job Summary/Description:
WLBT in Jackson, MS, is looking first and foremost for a genuine journalist who can lead viewers through complex issues and breaking news from the anchor desk. If you are a newsroom leader or growing to become one, I encourage you to consider this position. There is a lot of time spent at the desk, but there is also time for storytelling. Only storytellers need apply.
Duties/Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Anchor 4 hours of morning newscasts
- Daily meaningful contributions to editorial meetings
- Continuously telling stories as a member of our Investigative and Special Reports team
- Host content from our Digital News Desk
Qualifications/Requirements:
- 2 years of television newsroom experience, with much of that time spent on the anchor desk
- Proven track record of investigative reporting is a huge plus
- 4-year college degree in Communications / Journalism related field preferred, or the equivalent military or work experience
