Job Summary/Description:
KGNS+ is looking for a dynamic multimedia journalist to join our newsroom. We are seeking qualified candidates who have a passion for storytelling and news gathering.
The perfect individual will be able to write, edit, and shoot engaging, informative, and compelling news content. We are looking for a storyteller with solid writing skills and the ability to turn content on deadline under pressure. We want to hire a reporter who is ready to immerse themselves in the community, find the stories that genuinely impact the people who live here, and bring solid enterprise coverage to the table every day.
Duties/Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):
* Strong shooting and editing skills are a must for this position.
* The ability to dig up lead story ideas each day is also a priority.
* Professional appearance
* Ability to lift and carry equipment, including tripod, camera, and lights.
* Ability to work independently.
* Be willing to work weekends, nights, or any given shift.
* Must be able to find enterprise news stories.
* Must be able to work under deadlines.
* Good news judgment with the ability to make quick and accurate decisions is essential.
Qualifications/Requirements:
* A college degree in journalism or a related field is required
* Must hold a valid driver's license and be insurable
* Initiative and attention to detail are required
* Be able to write clearly and accurately; great grammar!
* Must be able to work well under sometimes intense pressure and tight deadlines
* Ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving in a manner that will work well with co-workers, supervisors, and viewers
* Ability to keep up with national and local news/weather is required
* The ability to enterprise local hard-news stories is required
* Computer knowledge including newsroom software, Microsoft applications and Internet use
* Must be able to edit video and audio
