TEGNA/RadiOhio is searching for a premier play-by-play announcer to become a key voice on the Ohio State Sports Network, representing one of the nation’s most prestigious collegiate athletic programs. This is a high-visibility, high-impact role for a seasoned broadcaster who brings energy, accuracy, and excellence to every call.
We’re looking for a dynamic professional with proven experience delivering compelling, insightful, and polished play-by-play coverage—ideally someone who understands the traditions and expectations of Big Ten sports and the Midwest’s rich athletic culture.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary play-by-play voice for: Ohio State Women’s Basketball and Ohio State Baseball
- Contribute to Ohio State Football broadcasts and related programming as assigned
- Deliver timely and accurate sports updates for our flagship station and statewide news network
- Conduct engaging interviews with coaches, athletes, and key stakeholders
- Edit and produce audio content for both live and recorded use
- Set up, test, and troubleshoot broadcast equipment both on-site and remotely
Requirements
- Demonstrated play-by-play experience at the NCAA Division I or professional sports level is required
- Strong familiarity and deep knowledge of Ohio State Athletics, with a focus on baseball, women’s basketball, and football
- Outstanding editorial judgment and professional conduct both on and off the air
- Commitment to the standards, values, and brand integrity of TEGNA/RadiOhio and the Ohio State Sports Network
- Proficiency in audio editing and broadcast production software and other tools
- Technical know-how to manage live broadcast logistics and field equipment setup
- Must be detail-oriented, organized, and accountable under pressure
- Ability to accept feedback, take direction, and thrive both independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Engaging, professional, and energetic on-air presence
- Willingness and ability to travel and maintain a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
