The
Royalty & Metadata Coordinator will play a crucial role in the administration of Essential Music Publishing's catalog of songs. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who can work independently and collaboratively with Essential Music Publishing's creative staff, writers, artists, and business affairs team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with large data sets and excel spreadsheets, ensuring accurate royalty collections and licensing.
What You'll Do:
- Manage conflicts, appeals, asset management, and disputes regarding YouTube videos and other Content Management Systems.
- Collect and manage metadata, including ISRC, release dates, artist information, record label data, and Spotify/YouTube links for the back catalog.
- Prepare and review quarterly and semi-annual royalty statements and payments for Essential Music Publishing's catalog, focusing on statement processing and song matching for various royalty statements (Manual, Harry Fox, ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, Film/TV).
- Utilize third-party tools like Spotify Analytics to cross-reference and ensure the accuracy of metadata both externally and internally.
- Monitor the [EssentialYouTube@pmgsonymusic.com](mailto:EssentialYouTube@pmgsonymusic.com) email account and respond to customer inquiries promptly.
- Collaborate with staff across multiple departments to meet productivity, quality, and goal expectations.
- Ensure accurate and timely data entry and reporting using various systems and resources.
- Manage data entry and royalty collection across multiple accounts, including mechanical, performance, digital media, and synchronization income.
- Identify trends related to unpaid or incorrectly reported earnings to ensure financial accuracy.
- Assist with contract and financial receipt reviews.
- Participate in cross-training exercises to support other functions within the Publishing Administration Team, including resolving conflicts through the MLC Data Quality Initiative and validating metadata/registration with all societies.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
Who You Are:
- At least one year of prior administrative experience
- Prior music industry/music publishing experience strongly preferred
- Strong analytical skills and proven experience with managing lots of data with a keen attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Demonstrated organization skills including experience coordinating multiple assignments and projects in a deadline-driven environment with effective resolution of conflicting priorities
- Knowledge of online digital music tools and familiarity with music file types
- Ability to exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others
- Experience in a role that required a strong, self-motivated work ethic
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills
