Introduction
As Abbey Road embarks on an exciting new chapter, we are seeking to elevate the artist/client experience throughout our Studios.
We are seeking a motivated and skilled IT & Communications Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IT support, troubleshooting, and customer service. You will be responsible for assisting Studio colleagues with technical issues, maintaining IT systems, and ensuring the smooth operation of our technological environments.
The IT infrastructure at Abbey Road Studios includes the delivery and support of Universal Music IT systems across the Abbey Road business as well as dedicated studio specific IT requirements.
We have recently installed a new studio booking system, which will be supported by a new CRM and website. The IT & Communications Manager will support this project working closely with the project manager and studio teams.
Main Purpose of Role:
Reporting to the Head of Technical Services you will be part of a team of two IT specialists and part of the wider Abbey Road Technical Department supporting all aspects of the Studios’ business. You will also work very closely with the UMG IT department.
Role & Responsibilities:
- To liaise closely with the Head of Technical Services, IT Systems Manager and operational managers to ensure the highest level of IT service to all areas of the business on a day-to-day basis
- To work closely with UMG’s IT department and GSO (Global Security Office) to ensure the studios’ IT practices are in accordance with company standards and procedures
- To work in accordance with UMG’s IT department on supporting the studios’ servers, switches and storage systems
- To work closely with members of the studios’ Technical Department to ensure ongoing support and development for the DAWs and associated technologies within the operational areas of the business
- Provide first-level technical support to Abbey Road staff and artists / clients for hardware, software, and network issues
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to desktops, laptops, and mobile devices
- Recognise, specify, install and configure business related IT systems, projects and initiatives where required
- Monitor infrastructure operational alerts and security vulnerabilities and escalate as necessary
- To manage projects as agreed and directed by the Head of Technical Services
Personal Specification
Essential:
- Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Strong understanding of computer systems, hardware, and software applications
- Experience of business IT practices, systems and infrastructure
- Familiarity with network protocols and troubleshooting
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience of working in a strong client-focussed environment
- A willingness to work evenings and weekends on occasions when necessary
- Experience of
- Microsoft and Apple Mac operating systems
- configuring Local Area Networks and Wireless Access Points
- configuring VLANs
- data and network security including firewalls, endpoint protection and group policies
- SSCM / JAMF
Desirable:
- Experience of recording studio workstations, systems and infrastructure
- Experience of data transfer systems
- Experience of 3rd party IT security audits
- Relevant IT systems certifications
