Was a husband and father. The Brennan's lived in California until tragedy struck. Sean's wife, Kath, committed suicide in their home. This tragedy changed Sean forever. He suffered from anxiety and depression and was very attached to his wife. He lost sight of everything else, including his teenage daughter, Saoirse. The two grew further and further apart until they rarely spoke or even saw each other. Saoirse, also dealing with grief, began to hate him for his reaction to her mother's death. Sean, absorbed in his own grief, didn't notice much.
He threw himself into his work. He is a top expert in meteorology. Suddenly, a great sand storm appears in Saudi Arabia. But not like any other- this storm stays in place like a fortress wall. Experts are gathered and funding flows in to study it and Sean jumps at the chance to be part of the project and so moves himself and his daughter to "Easifa," the nearest city to the storm. But he takes his grief with him. He is unable to break his depression and eventually walks into the storm, leaving his daughter behind.
