Atlanta, is searching for an experienced, people-first
Director of Content to lead our award-winning news team. We’re looking for a streaming savvy content leader who can inspire teams and elevate storytelling across all platforms.
Our ideal candidate is obsessed with the audience experience, thrives on innovation and knows how to motivate high-performing teams. You’ll oversee all content operations and partner closely with the news director (who reports into this role), the digital director and other news managers to execute a unified vision that’s as strategic as it is ambitious.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and inspire a content team that delivers smart, bold journalism with impact and utility—on every platform
- Drive alignment and collaboration between broadcast and digital to ensure excellence in breaking news, enterprise reporting and investigative storytelling
- Lead the 11Alive news team to develop and execute 11Alive’s editorial strategy and content plan
- Shape the day-to-day and long-term content priorities, using research and analytics to meet goals and expand reach
- Hire, coach and develop high-performing newsroom talent—on camera and behind the scenes
- Lead content quality reviews and provide regular feedback that strengthens storytelling and audience relevance
- Promote strong collaboration across departments, including news, marketing and community engagement
- Champion an inclusive, empowering newsroom culture rooted in accountability, innovation and shared success
- Stay on top of trends in AI, streaming, social, and emerging tech—and push our team to be out front
- Oversee content budget in partnership with station leadership
- Embody and uphold TEGNA’s values: truth, transparency, smart work, ethics and winning with integrity
What You’ll Bring
- 7+ years in content leadership roles, with a track record of growing audience and impact
- Proven success managing complex teams and projects across digital, broadcast and social
- Experience leading newsrooms through change and transformation
- Stellar editorial judgment and deep understanding of ethical journalism principles
- Confidence navigating digital production tools, social platforms and real-time analytics
- Outstanding communication skills and the ability to coach, develop and inspire top talent
- A passion for local journalism—and a love for serving diverse communities
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or related field

TEGNA offers two medical plan options for full and part-time employees through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, as well as access to dental and eye care coverage; fertility, surrogacy and adoption assistance; disability and life insurance.
Our 401(k) program offers full, part-time and temporary employees the opportunity to contribute 1% - 80% of their pay on a pre-tax basis to TEGNA’s 401(k). Contributions made up to the first 4% of pay are eligible for a 100% match from the company and are 100% vested from day one.
Regardless of participation in TEGNA medical plans, ALL employees and their eligible family members receive nine free virtual doctor’s appointments with a physician through Teladoc, and 12 free annual therapy sessions with a licensed clinician through Spring Health.
TEGNA offers a generous Paid Time Off (PTO) benefit as well as nine paid holidays per year.
