About the Role:
Global News Regina is looking for a Digital Broadcast Journalist to join their team! Reporting to the Supervisor, Assignment Editor, the successful candidate would produce compelling, original content for TV, online, and other platforms. This role reaffirms our commitment to breaking news, community reporting, and digital-first approach to build the future of news. This role involves working a variety of shifts including early mornings, days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays, as well as Saskatchewan Roughrider games.
You will contribute by:
- Shooting, writing, voicing, and editing news stories for broadcast and online.
- Reporting and generating live hits for Global News
- Initiating and developing story and feature ideas through contact development, research, and interviews.
- Storytelling in the field of sports
- Demonstrating strong editorial, visual and communications skills.
- Working effectively under pressure with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Displaying highly developed production values and present yourself effectively live and on recordings.
- Other duties as required.
Skills and experience you bring:
- Post-secondary education (or equivalent experience) in Journalism, Broadcasting, or a related field.
- Previous experience as a journalist / news reporter would be a strong asset.
- Demonstrate strong news judgment in line with station objectives.
- Experience in updating online and broadcast content with a content management system would be an asset.
- Ability to create, curate and develop content using digital operating systems for multiple platforms.
- Familiarity with the current state of online news reporting and where it is headed.
- Strong writing and storytelling skills.
- Strong editorial skills in shooting, editing, writing, and producing video content.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Must work well under pressure, possess a desire to be the best, and have a positive can-do attitude.
- Be able to meet strict deadlines, work co-operatively with others in a teamwork setting, and be able to work with minimal supervision.
- A valid driver’s license and clear driver’s abstract.
