About the Role:
The Corus Entertainment/Global Television News Technology team is seeking a candidate for a full-time Senior Broadcast Technologist position based at Global BC, reporting to the Manager, Radio & News Technology. Applicants will have proven technical skills and an ability to work well with all customers of the technical department. The Successful candidate demonstrates the Corus Entertainment Values.As this operation is 24/7/365, this position may require shift work, including weekends and holidays.
This is a Group 6A position under the current collective agreement.
You will contribute by:
- Maintenance and repair of digital over the air television transmitters, microwave transmission systems, satellite receive systems, diesel and propane power generators.
- Maintenance and repair of mechanical systems
- The ability to travel extensively to rugged, remote mountain top sites using a 4W truck and snowmobile in adverse weather conditions
- Ability to perform transmitter site maintenance as required.
- Install, troubleshoot and maintain a variety of broadcast systems, facilities and equipment.
- Ensure transmitter system outages are addressed in a timely manner.
- Ensure transmitter sites meets or exceeds all ISED regulations.
- Maintain a consistent standard of quality control with the team
- Implement and document all temporary or permanent installations.
- Make equipment purchasing or system design recommendations
- Excellent communication skills to work with outside vendors and suppliers
- Excellent Visio skills for CAD drawings of Broadcast systems.
Skills and experience you will bring:
- 5+ years of RF transmitter maintenance experience.
- Be able to travel on short notice and accommodate changing schedules
- The ability to troubleshoot systems associated with a television transmitter site.
- An understanding of digital ideo/audio signals and their integration into Broadcast systems.
- Working knowledge of network analyzers, spectrum analyzers and rf power meters
- An understanding of passive RF devices, antennas and filters
- Extensive knowledge of working safely in an RF environment
- Easily navigate, understand and maintain system work flows with technical CAD drawings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Visio and Excel is a required asset.
- Team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and a passion for building and maintaining working relationships.
- Possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s license and clear driving record.
