Job Summary/Description:
WVLT is looking for a talented News Anchor to join our award-winning team. The candidate should possess good news judgment, be a strong writer, and be a creative thinker. This position requires strong anchor skills, leadership qualities, solid news judgment, and the ability to multitask. The candidate must have a passion for local news and want to share stories that make a difference each day for the people who live and work in East Tennessee.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Present information in a fair and unbiased manner
- Ability to anchor, report, go live, field anchor, and present onset debriefs when needed
- Help craft on-air shows and content for both social media and web that enhances the viewer's experience
- Develop story ideas to present, including digital components in the morning/afternoon news meetings
- Willing to work with our news consultant/talent coach to develop on-air look and presence
- Must have the ability to post and edit stories multiple times throughout the day to the web and social platforms
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Always present a professional image as a representative of WVLT
- Ability to multitask regularly, meet daily and long-range deadlines, work well with others in a team atmosphere, and contribute meaningful content daily
- Candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in Journalism or a related field; ability to produce is a benefit
- 4 years of experience is preferred
- Good driving record
