KMVT, Your Hometown Station, is the dominant news source for Twin Falls and Southern Idaho. Job Summary/Description:
KMVT/KSVT, Your Hometown Station, has an opening for a full-time Chief Meteorologist to lead our weather team. The ideal candidate for this role will have experience with both meteorology and leadership. They should be able to prepare and deliver weather forecasts and tell a relatable weather story across multiple platforms and newscasts. We expect the Chief Meteorologist to create engaging, informative, and compelling news—and help the rest of the weather team do the same. Beyond the work in the weather lab, this candidate will also feel confident with community outreach- visiting classrooms to educate young people about meteorology, reporting LIVE from breaking weather locations and other events as needed, as well as participating in other public functions.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Analyze weather data and prepare detailed forecasts
- Prepare graphics to support the weather presentation
- Flexible schedule for severe weather scenarios
- Lead team of Meteorologists, guiding them on presentation style and accuracy of forecasts
- Work closely with news management on content
- Developing and reporting stories
- Preparation of material for delivery of newscasts
- Post content daily to digital platforms
- Participate in approved public functions
Qualifications/Requirements:-
- Bachelor’s degree in meteorology
- 3+ years of experience as a broadcast meteorologist
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to lead an on-air weather team
- Ability to be creative with graphic design and presentation
- Demonstrated ability to accurately forecast weather
- Proficient in social media platforms
- Must possess a valid driver's license and good driving record
