WFAA is seeking a dedicated and experienced
Production Coordinator to join our team. The Production Coordinator will report to the Broadcast Supervisor and assist them in facilitating special projects for WFAA, as well as being an integral part of our broadcast directing team. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a strong technical background. We need proven abilities to lead projects and help WFAA transform production workflows across all platforms, including linear and streaming. This person needs to collaborate well across multiple departments, especially in managing outside projects. The Production Coordinator will also work closely with a dedicated team of production professionals to create engaging content using forward-thinking production ideas.
Responsibilities
- Special Event Coordination: Coordinate special event coverage (both internal and external), which can include budgeting, planning, and execution. Serve as the point of contact for any outside production teams, ensuring seamless communication and resource allocation.
- Operational Oversight: Act as a liaison between field productions, the in-house production team, and the newsroom, ensuring all parties are aligned and operations are efficient. Great communication skills will be paramount.
- Broadcast Directing: Direct/produce linear and streaming newscasts using automated directing programs.
- Inventory and Asset Management: Manage production assets not related to in-studio broadcasts. Develop a system to track assets to be utilized by multiple departments.
- Strategic Innovation: Stay abreast of production industry trends to keep WFAA practices and tools fresh and innovative
- Content and Aesthetics: Oversee the overall visual aesthetic of special event coverage.
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Collaborate with the sales department to coordinate with external clients for the production of sponsored and paid content.
Requirements
- 5+ years of production experience.
- Experience with coordinating high-level projects, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Highly organized, resourceful and dependable with excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Able to work independently and set appropriate priorities.
- Take direction and coaching when needed and also take the initiative where applicable.
- Proficiency in automated directing platforms and associated programs.
- Ability to edit utilizing non-linear editing programs.
