Position Summary
The Project Employee, Communications & Legal – NBA LATAM will support the NBA Latin America team in executing strategic communications and legal coordination efforts across the region. This role will support the NBA Latin America team in implementing year-round targeted PR plans, handling media credential requests, and coordinating legal documentation processes. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
Major Responsibilities
- Communications Support
- Assist with year-round communications strategy for Latin America business (events, partnership announcements, etc.) and basketball initiatives, driving interest and awareness for each
- Assist in developing, editing, translating and internally approving press materials, including but not limited to press releases, media advisories, key messages, Q&As and executive remarks
- Work closely with Latin America and international PR teams on pre-, onsite, and post-event publicity efforts for marquee events including NBA international games, Basketball Without Borders, Jr. NBA clinics, partnership announcements, player visits, etc.
- Establish relationships with key media contacts; continue to build existing media relationships
- Assist in managing Latin American media inquiries and requests, including game credential process
- Monitor daily media stories (print, online, TV) related to NBA in Latin America and distribute to various business groups
- Legal Support
- Assist on standard agreements (include information/details/fees)
- Review documents required for due diligence processes.
- Control agreements and due diligence expiration dates.
- Work closely with Latin America team to establish best practices.
Required Education/Professional Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Communications, Media Studies, Marketing, Business Administration, or Law
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in PR/Communications/Law or related discipline with functional knowledge of and expertise in implementing market-based strategies
- Familiarity with legal documentation processes is a plus
- Experience with project management and stakeholder (internal/external) coordination
Required Skills/Knowledge Attributes
- Exceptional writing and communication skills in Portuguese, Spanish and English
- Strong writing, editing, and interpersonal communication skills
- Familiarity with AP style and ability to draft and translate documents
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks/projects and meet all deadlines
- Detail-oriented, organized, flexible, thorough
- Team player and positive attitude
- Ability to travel as needed
- Computer proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Microsoft Office)
- Basketball knowledge, experience and/or affinity a plus
