Philadelphia's dominant news station is looking for a trailblazing, ahead-of-the-curve video journalist to join the Action News team. The successful candidate embraces new technology and is not afraid to use it. Must deliver impactful storytelling, utilize next-generation shooting techniques, and incorporate high-end craft editing, as well as a proven track record in the fast-paced, high-pressure environment of daily news gathering.
The ideal candidate is self-reliant and a creative photojournalist who is a team player with the resourcefulness to improvise and solve problems when necessary.
Responsibilities
- Shoot, produce, and edit video content in a fast-paced environment that is compelling and informative to our viewers.
- Collaborate with field reporters, content producers, and writers on the team to create visual pieces for all productions, including linear and digital platforms.
- Troubleshoot, proactively identify, and quickly resolve technical issues and inefficiencies.
- Facilitate, gather, and maintain digital assets and footage for all platforms.
Basic Qualifications
- A minimum of 3 years of ENG shooting and editing experience in a large or network-level television market
- Experience using P2 cameras
- Ability to edit in a fast-paced environment and create compelling content
- Ability to multitask, prioritize & manage tasks simultaneously
- Must be familiar with basic video and audio principles.
- Hours will vary depending on the needs of the news department, so flexibility to work a varied schedule is required.
- Candidates must have a valid driver’s license to operate station vehicles
- The ability to lift and carry 30 lbs. of equipment to use during taped and live productions is required.
- Skilled in IP devices for live capabilities such as DEJERO & LIVEU.
- A working operational knowledge of microwave/broadband mobile units, streaming technology, and file transfer solutions is crucial.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge of Adobe Premiere non-linear editing is preferred.
- Prior experience supporting digital platforms is a plus.
