NewsNation is looking for a full-time temporary digital producer to assist in management of the station website, and other platforms including newsletters and social media. This role is 40 hours a week with the expected schedule of M-F 8aCT-4pCT. This is subject to change. Note this is a temporary position.
Duties & Responsibilities:· Update NewsNation digital platforms (website, app, email, social) with breaking news and topical news of the day
· Optimize NewsNation content for site, YouTube and other platforms using SEO best practices and data-informed decisions
· Package content that encourages audience engagement to stay on the page longer or view more pages per visit
· Edit wire and local network-affiliated content for a national audience to ensure standards for journalistic integrity and production quality are met
· Craft compelling headlines, ledes and snippets that encourage followers to engage with our journalism
· Pitch stories daily and develop multiple ideas off a single news topic that pushes stories forward -specifically in entertainment and trending verticals
· Assist in the curation and production of daily newsletters
· Create digital-first content and original reporting that accomplishes the NewsNation mission and differentiates our brand from our competitors
Requirements & Skills:
· Bachelor’s degree in journalism, advertising or marketing or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
· Three-plus years working as a digital producer or audience engagement specialist in a major market or national newsroom.
· Experience with optimizing content using SEO best practices for site, YouTube and other platforms
· Strong news judgement and ability to determine when local stories have national appeal
· Experience working with Chartbeat, Photoshop, AHREFS, Google Trends, Sailthru a plus
· Excellent communicator, both oral and written
· Early morning, late night and/or weekend shifts may be required
Compensation: $30-$35 per hour
