One of the film's main characters and, along with his sister, Kira, is the focus of the first section. Despite being of a similar age to Kira, he is both sensitive and physically smaller. A lack of fighting ability and a timid nature make him the subject of derision from his father. The boy is fully aware of his shortcomings and his father's disappointment, something that causes internal conflict throughout his character arc. While Jason initially seems weaker than his sister, he proves himself to be hardy in his own right during the film's events, but ultimately his story is one of tragedy.
