POSITION SUMMARY
Manages proactive quality assurance activities in coordination with the Distribution and Admin Team. Directs all activities associated with the audit of BMI’s top charting and questionable/suspicious registrations with the goal of maximizing distribution revenue and accurate royalty payments.
LOCATION
Nashville, TN office. BMI operates on a regular in-office hybrid schedule. At present, most team members are expected in the office three (3) days a week.
FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

- Analyzes scope of work and sets team priorities based on multiple factors and deadlines.
- Monitors team member productivity and other team performance goals to meet distribution deadlines.
- Creates, maintains, and reports relevant KPIs and metrics to optimize team performance and ensures operational excellence.
Quality Assurance
- Oversees and maintains BMI’s charting works process; ensures that priority works are registered in a timely and accurate manner.
- Prepares, assigns, monitors and reviews various audit reports to assess the accuracy of individual song registrations and/or catalogs.
- Reviews priority catalogs and projects on an ad hoc basis for internal customers.
- Identifies trends and patterns with questionable and suspicious registration activity and recommend solutions for future prevention.
- Interacts with the Works Registration and Maintenance teams regarding registration and works data quality.
- Communicates BMI’s repertoire quality policies and procedures to internal and external customers.
- Collaborates with the Distribution team to develop, review, and address QA reports leading up to quarterly distributions.
- Performs written and telephone inquiries to affiliates, internal and external customers.
- Researches and prepares royalty adjustment requests as necessary.
Other
- Participates in continuous process improvement to ensure departmental efficiencies are identified, implemented, and maintained.
- Supports BMI’s core technology transformation by providing subject matter expertise in the development of new products and new product features.
- Contributes to operational development and transformation efforts and UAT initiatives.
- Participates on project teams that are responsible for the design, development, testing and implementation of new systems and processes.
- Develops relationships with peers at publishing companies and other BMI customers to create efficiencies and to increase the knowledge of BMI administration practices across the industry.
- Assists with other administration and distribution processes and projects as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises departmental team members. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, directing and ensuring reliability of work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining team members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent preferred. Music business degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience in the music industry. Minimum 2 years’ supervisory experience. Minimum 2 years’ working knowledge of the music publishing or copyright administration business.
Skills and Abilities: which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of Word, Outlook, and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Intermediate experience with Excel (e.g. Pivot Tables, V-Lookups, etc).
- Experience working with data systems, reports, and spreadsheets is strongly desired.
- Strong leadership, relationship, and team building skills.
- Results driven with the ability to organize, prioritize, and follow-through.
- Ability to interact professionally, both written and verbally, with a diverse population of internal and external customers.
- Strong analytical, research and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to comprehend and summarize multiple sources of information, including publishing contracts, and make decisions based on the information.
- Experience working with database systems and reports, as well as word processing and spreadsheets.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
- Ability to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines within specific timeframes.
