About WDTV:
WDTV (CBS), WVFX (FOX), EVFX (CW), AND EDTV (MeTV) combine to provide local news and weather to North Central West Virginia. We are the largest TV source for local news and entertainment for our 12-county area. WDTV features a recently upgraded news studio and a team dedicated to local news. Job Summary/Description:
WDTV is looking for a full-time producer. The ideal candidate will be able to make the newscast unique & memorable by preparing & organizing the available content. We want someone who can thrive in a fast-paced work environment. This person must be an excellent writer, possess strong leadership & organizational skills, and be able to perform well under pressure. The ideal candidate develops & enterprise stories daily and communicates effectively with coworkers and the community. The candidate will also be required to post stories to our station's website. The ideal candidate must be a team player.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Must be able to manage the TV news broadcast, coordinate with the production team & oversee the order of the news broadcast.
- Work with the news team to decide on what stories to produce & report.
- Work closely with news anchors to produce & execute clear information and news stories to the viewer.
- Contribute story ideas & content on a daily basis.
- Assist other producers & communicate well with them.
- Ability to quickly recognize & organize stories for the upcoming news broadcast.
- Review, edit & approve stories for broadcast submitted by reporters with speed & accuracy.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- To be successful in this position, you must have a high level of production knowledge & experience.
- Extreme attention to detail & solid news judgement are a must.
- A successful candidate has knowledge of the various news gathering tools & libel laws.
- They must understand the importance of writing crisp teases to promote upcoming news broadcasts & stories, as well as create electronic graphics in a professional and timely manner.
