Salem News Channel (SNC) – Video Producer

Salem Media’s fast-growing Salem News Channel—featuring America’s top conservative voices and straight news—seeks a versatile Video Producer.
You’ll wear many hats across pre-production, live production, and post. Ideal candidates live for news, thrive in the control room, and can direct, switch, run prompter, and guide talent.
Responsibilities
Core Duties
- Pre: Research, curate clips and sound bytes for show, source VO and Broll for show topics, confirm and plan live ad reads for the show each day, pitch topics, pitch and book guests
- Live: Ensure encoder is streaming and connected to the endpoint, operate the video switcher, manage on screen appearance of host, manage show clock and segment timing when needed, fire ad breaks as necessary, ensure top quality; write lower-third headlines, assist with call in phone lines and screening, play clips and VO when called for or appropriate
- Post: Cut clips from the show for social media and apps, create thumbnails and post clips to cms and social pages, write title and description for VOD show, ensure show is posted for VOD and appearing on all platforms
- Additional: plan shows for holidays and coordinate pretapes, assist in coordinating and setting up guest hosts for days that host is out, coordinate with Executive Network Producer and Director of Network operations on show improvements and workflows
All tasks assigned by the Director of Network Operations and the Executive Network Producer.
Qualifications
- Sharp news judgment
- Careful attention to detail
- Background in video production, with knowledge of best practices for framing and lighting
- Experience operating video switchers in a live environment, specifically Tricaster
- Start/end streams; troubleshoot live
- Proficient: Adobe Premiere Pro; working knowledge of Photoshop
- Comfortable booking and connecting guests
- Highly organized
- Familiarity with social media landscape and posting best practices
- Works well in a team environment, as well as independently
- Ability to take and apply feedback
- Enthusiastic about learning new skills
