Job Summary/Description:
WIFR Channel 23 has an immediate opening for a Digital News Producer/Videographer. This person will be responsible for content creation; gathering, shooting, and editing news video as well as writing/producing for digital, streaming, and TV platforms. The successful candidate will be driven, very familiar with social media/digital/streaming platforms, tenacious, able to build solid connections with others, and able to tell a good story.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Produce newscasts (including stacking, writing scripts, editing video, editing copy, making/ordering graphics to fit stories, making maps, coordinating live shots with directors, production staff, and reporters)
- Fill in producer as needed
- Shoot and edit video, as well as gather and write news information for TV and digital platforms
- Computer knowledge, including newsroom software, Microsoft applications, and internet use
- Pitch stories and conduct interviews
- Help with special projects, talent shoots, and live shots when needed
- Demonstrate strong editorial judgement while following journalistic ethics and libel laws
- Ability to maintain professional and ethical conduct at the station and in the community
- Ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving in a collaborative manner with co-workers, supervisors, and viewers
- Be able to work well under strict deadline pressure
- Flexibility to work varied shifts when necessary, including overnights and weekends
- Perform other job duties as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
- College degree in journalism or related field required or equivalent professional experience
- Valid driver's license and good driving record required
