KPRC 2 is looking for a digital-first strategist who wants to help shape the future of journalism in a social-first landscape and understands how smart packaging, platform nuance, and data can grow audiences. In this re-imagined, highly collaborative role across News and Marketing, you’ll stay rooted in strong journalistic principles while using your creative tools, research skills, and analytical instincts to influence how every story is created, optimized, and distributed on our digital platforms.
Reporting to the Marketing Director, you’ll be at the center of our digital transformation ensuring that breaking news, enterprise reporting, weather, investigations, lifestyle, and culture content reaches Houstonians wherever they are: social, mobile, or streaming.
What You’ll Do
- Build and execute platform-specific strategies for Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, X, TikTok, and streaming.
- Craft headlines, thumbnails, captions, and packaging that drive reach and engagement.
- Use insights dashboards to guide decisions.
- Identify real-time opportunities during breaking news or high-interest events.
- Collaborate daily with producers, reporters, photographers, and digital editors.
- Test new formats, trends, hooks, and workflows to improve performance.
- Train the newsroom in the best practices with simple, usable guidance.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or marketing, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in digital content strategy, audience growth, or social-first storytelling (news/media experience a plus).
- Strong platform fluency across Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and X.
- Comfortable using analytics tools (Domo, Chartbeat, YT Studio, Meta, etc.) to guide decisions.
- Excellent writing, editorial judgment, and headline/caption packaging skills.
- Skilled in short-form video editing and creating simple graphics (Adobe Creative Suite or Canva)
- Passion for local news and familiarity with the Houston audience is a plus.
