Overview /Objective
NFL Films is seeking a Seasonal Broadcast/Post-Production Engineer who is a highly motivated, skilled, and passionate individual to join our team. This position is responsible for designing, deploying, monitoring, maintaining, operating, and repairing production equipment systems as a senior member of the broadcast/post Engineering team.
The ideal candidate must be comfortable working in a Production Environment, supporting a team by bringing fresh insights, shared problem-solving, building trust and relationships with users of varying technical skills, and understanding users’ needs/pain points to deliver relevant solutions. This is done in partnership with Producers, Editors, Audio Mixers, Color Grading Technicians, software & systems engineers, production & technology leads, and others.
Responsibilities
Requires a full understanding of technical facilities, complex broadcast production equipment systems, and computer and data network assets in the Engineering environment.
- Directly manage all aspects of the Broadcast and Post engineering operations for live and post productions.
- Serves as the lead technical role on assigned shows and acts as the primary point of contact for issues.
- Work directly with Engineering Managers to identify technical problems and to develop an action plan outlining their solutions.
- Communicate potential technical risks to the Engineering Manager & Operations Manager.
- Assist the Engineering Manager in identifying skills gaps and developing training programs for staff.
- Build shows from the ground up, including router configuration, signal flow troubleshooting, and working with various technicians to execute solutions for all show requirements.
- Manage all required preventative and technical maintenance of Films equipment.
- Direct team members related to the operation of equipment, including setup and breakdown, inventory, and proper use.
- Ability to rapidly diagnose problems and provide alternative solutions to maintain production deadlines.
- Ability to comprehend complex concepts and workflows.
- Participate and contribute to the training and ongoing education of production personnel on operating equipment and systems.
- The employee must be able to work evenings, weekends, and/or overnight shifts as situations arise.
- The employee may be required to work a flexible rotating 24/7 shift as needed.
Required Qualifications
- 6 or more years of experience maintaining professional Video, Audio, Post Production, and Broadcast systems. Hands-on management and maintenance of Audio, Video, Grading, Graphics, Transcode, Storage, Client and VM systems, network infrastructure, and broadcast systems and software.
- Strong technical experience and exposure to broadcast television production equipment, including tape, drive, and memory-based video recorders, production switchers, routers, cameras, transmission and encoding equipment
- Strong knowledge of television systems engineering.
- Experience in professional Video and Audio system development and deployment using current tools.
- Will assist in development efforts around new and emerging post-production, media management, and broadcast processes.
- Collaborate with engineers and operators in designing, developing, and deploying new systems and processes, as far as assisting in road map planning across multiple media systems and environments.
- Manage post-production system life cycles.
- Team leadership and management experience are a plus.

- Must have proficient computer skills in Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems.
- Enterprise Storage Systems (Dell/EMC, Vast, Open Drives, NetApp, etc) a plus
- Interplay, NEXIS, Media Central Cloud UX, Media Composer
- Premiere Pro, After Effects, and related tools
- Experience with Blackmagic Resolve and 3rd-party plugins
- Familiarity with IRIS QC, TeleStream DivaVantage, and Stanza
- Strong understanding of video signals (SD, HD, UHD, HDR, SRT) and compression formats (XDcamHD50, MPEG2/4, XAVC, DNX, ProRes)
- Windows 11, Windows Server, Linux, macOS
- NFS, CIFS, SMB file protocols
- Switches, routers, firewalls, TCP/UDP/IP, DNS
- Experience with Signiant file acceleration tools
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications (Not all are required)
- BA/BS in Engineering, Video Production, Communications, or other related fields
- 6+ years of experience in Video, Audio, and Post Engineering
- Ansible Orchestration and Kubernetes Deployments
- Knowledge of SMPTE 2110 systems

Salary / Pay Range

Terms / Expected Hours of Work
- NFL employees are required to work 40 hours per week. The role may require overtime (time worked more than 40 hours) and/or weekends.
