Position Summary
As a WNBA Broadcasting Assistant, you will be a key player in matters related to WNBA national television partners and the league itself. Through observation, participation, and diligence you will help shape the way the WNBA presents to the world. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to both local and national broadcasting landscapes. You will build relationships with key league and network officials who all share the same goal of ensuring WNBA content is at the forefront of sports media. This role also includes the chance to work cross-functionally in tandem with other internal departments to develop an appreciation of how major sports leagues operate.
Major Responsibilities
- Responsible for tracking all network access requests, drafting team access memos, and compiling internal notes regarding access executions.
- Develop and maintain living docs for a variety of W broadcast priorities including (but not limited to): best practices, access player participation, tip times/slides/JIPs, etc.
- Assist with WNBA signage monitoring.
- Serve as contact for WNBA teams regarding production matters and network concerns.
- Attend all WNBA tentpole events (Draft, Commissioner’s Cup, All-Star, etc.) to provide support.
- Train as a TOC and Access Screener and provide support in either role, as required.
- Participate in WNBA Broadcasting dept calls - both internal and external.
- Assist with talent logistical planning, as required.
- Provide general day-to-day support using our digital NBA Content Archive, clipping, and distributing real-time links and updates involving WNBA programming.
Required Experience/Knowledge
- Excellent knowledge of NBA, WNBA, NBA G-League, and NBA 2K (Players, coaches, and teams)
- Knowledge of television industry/social media and streaming landscape; background in sports and/or television/broadcasting preferred.
- Strong writing and interpersonal skills
- Microsoft Office expertise
