Wubing is a timid PhD student from China who works for a pet cloning company. He doesn't know what he's getting into when he accepts a generous salary from a widow, Claire, who wants to clone her late husband. Claire plans to use a neuro-tech device loaded up with explicit romantic and sexual simulations to condition this clone of her husband to love her. But when Wubing stumbles upon these simulations, he becomes collaterally infatuated with her. Meanwhile, the clone, who she's holding captive, wants nothing to do with her.
Wubing has a complex character arc that explores confidence, racism, romance, and morality. Over the course of the series, he rises to challenges that force him to find his moral compass and break out of his shell.
