About the Role:
Corus has an exciting full-time opportunity for a Senior Finance Manager of Content in our Toronto head office. You will work collaboratively with both finance and operational groups to produce timely and accurate financial results, ultimately overseeing the financial statement close process of the Content division. Role is required to ensure financial statements are completed with accuracy and on a timely basis. This role has autonomy over the Content revenue recognition process which is very detailed and complex.
You will contribute by:
- Responsible for Content Division’s Financial Statement Close Process including reviewing balance sheet reconciliation, review and approve monthly journal entries
- Review and approve invoice, expense reports, and purchase orders to ensure proper coding and accounting treatment
- Responsible for correct and accurate revenue recognition on Production & Distribution contacts for both the Kids and Lifestyle portfolios, including balancing and closing the period-end, royalties upload, AR collection, AFDA analysis and Content film investment amortization
- Responsible for integration of multi-current General Ledger (US database to CAD database) including multi-currency revaluation for content entries
- Assist in the preparation of monthly forecasts and annual budgets for Production & Distribution revenues and film investment amortization
- Provide leadership to team of direct reports, including allocation of task effectively and efficiently to deliver accurate timely results.
- Provide coaching and career development to direct reports
- Preparation of audit and tax working papers for quarterly reviews and annual audit, providing recommendations to address any R&C and/or external audit findings
- Exercise assigned internal controls and work with the team to automate, where possible to make the financial close process more efficient
- Assist Content Finance and Content Management teams with time sensitive ad-hoc projects and analysis
Skills and experience you will bring:
- Minimum 5+ years of related finance experience in a large organization
- University degree in accounting and a professional designation (or in progress)
- Sound financial knowledge with a solid accounting background
- Ability to supervise direct reports and advise on progress to enhance professional development
- Creative and analytical thinker, with attention to detail and accuracy
- Superior organization skills including demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks in a timeline driven environment
- High competency with financial systems/tools such as Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains, Power BI, Excel, Access, etc.
- Advanced analytical skills demonstrated by the ability to get into the details while simultaneously understanding the big picture
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, with multiple priorities
- Strong communication/interpersonal skills
