Job Description:
The Department of Media Production, Management, andTechnology (MPMT) in the University of Florida's College of Journalism and Communications seeks to hire a nine-month tenure-track Assistantor Associate Professor with a demonstrated record of creative production to begin Fall 2026.
The MPMT department is unique withinthe college and the university, recognizing the critical importance of creative tenure tracks where creativity and artistic output arevalued as highly as traditional scholarly research. We seek a dynamic scholar-practitioner whose creative output advances storytellingthrough innovative media formats. This role emphasizes tenure based on a robust portfolio of creative work-such as films, documentaries,series, or interactive projects-alongside teaching and service contributions.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellence increative production that engages audiences in meaningful ways. Areas of expertise may include traditional filmmaking, documentaryfilmmaking, new media arts, emerging technologies such as augmented reality (AR) or virtual reality (VR), streaming series development andproduction, or hybrid formats that blend narrative with interactive elements. We value candidates who push boundaries in media innovation,fostering content that addresses contemporary social issues, cultural narratives, or technological disruptions.
Tenure evaluationwill prioritize impactful creative scholarship, evidenced by screenings at prestigious film festivals (e.g., Sundance, Tribeca, SXSW,Cannes, Berlin, Toronto, Venice, Slamdance, Atlanta, Seattle, Austin, or Florida), awards in the Broadcast Education Association (BEA)Festival of Media Arts, screenings or presentations at the University Film and Video Association (UFVA) conference, OTT distribution ofcreative work with platforms such as DUST, Omeleto, Short of the Week, or other niche streaming outlets, recognition in brandedentertainment awards (e.g., Cannes Lions Entertainment, Tribeca X, or Brand Film Awards), publications in creative outlets, peer-reviewedexhibitions, grants from bodies like the National Endowment for the Arts, or collaborations with industry leaders such as Netflix, Hulu, oremerging OTT platforms.

- Graduate teaching candidates are expected to maintain an active agenda of original creative work,secure external funding, and disseminate outputs through festivals, broadcasts, online platforms, or academic conferences.
- Serviceduties include department and college committees, advising student media organizations, and contributing to college initiatives and otherduties as assigned.
About the Department of Media Production, Management, & Technology The Department ofMedia Production, Management, and Technology is one of the premier programs in offering courses related to mass media and emerging media.Our curriculum prepares students for the media industry through two specializations: Digital Film and Video Production, and Media Managementand Technology. The department has about 500 student majors and 16 full-time faculty. Students from the department pursue careers in filmproduction, TV program production, social media management, brand management, consumer analysis, UI/UX design, and digital marketing, amongothers.

Minimum Requirements:
- A terminal degree (MFA, Ph.D., orequivalent) in film, media production, or a related field by August 2026.
- A strong record of creative achievement, such as films,documentaries, programming, or VR experiences.
- Prior teaching experience with demonstrated ability to inspire students.
- Technical proficiency in production software (e.g., Adobe Suite, AVID, Unreal Engine or other)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Industry experience in producing and or directing features, docs, OTT streaming series, or interactive entertainment.
- Festivalrecognition. (mid-major/major)

- University-level teaching awards
