**This role supports sites in the state of Arizona. Candidates must live in, or be willing to relocate to, Arizona.**
What will you do?
- Operational Excellence & System Integrity:
- Rigorously evaluate technical operations, implementing advanced corrective actions for optimal equipment quality and performance.
- Independently install, maintain, and repair complex broadcast equipment including, but not limited to, audio processors, transmission systems, EAS equipment, receivers, monitors, electrical systems, and optimizing signal and sound based on Ministry guidelines.
- Masterfully operate equipment to regulate and optimize signal strength, clarity, and sound.
- Troubleshooting & Resolution:
- Proactively diagnose and resolve intricate technical faults on equipment and systems down to the component level, using advanced, systematic methods.
- Serve as a knowledgeable partner to contract engineers, providing expert insights, evaluating work, and actively coordinating projects.
- Lead collaborative efforts with internal staff to swiftly resolve complex technical challenges.
- Administrative & Documentation:
- Accurately complete and submit all required administrative documentation, including but not limited to timecards, expense reports, vehicle logs, budgeting documents, and other relevant records by established deadlines.
- Utilize and maintain designated asset management, work order, and ticketing system software to log activities, track inventory, and update status efficiently.
- Respond promptly and professionally to emails, texts, and phone calls, ensuring clear and timely communication regarding operational status, project updates, and other work-related matters.
- Maintain organized digital and physical records as required for compliance and operational continuity.
- Compliance & Safety Leadership:
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of FCC rules and regulations, ensuring all equipment and operations meet or exceed legal and safety requirements.
- Actively promote and adhere to K-LOVE's Injury Prevention and Safety program.
- Strict adherence to lock out-tag out procedures.
- If assigned, serve as a Chief Operator/Engineer for broadcast station(s), meticulously fulfilling all regulatory responsibilities.
- Site Management & Field Presence:
- Conduct mandatory, comprehensive on-site visits to each assigned transmitter site at least once per quarter.
- Provide rapid response and expert resolution for unplanned outages, emergency repairs, and critical events requiring on-site presence.
- Perform essential maintenance on non-broadcast equipment (e.g., electrical generators, HVAC, minor electrical/plumbing) for holistic site functionality.
- Undertake necessary trips to sites for installations or repairs, or K-LOVE Campus for training or specialized projects.
What are we looking for?
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent technical studies in electronics, broadcast communications, or a related field; OR a minimum of three years of directly related experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- SBE Certification highly desirable.
- Minimum of 4+ years of demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining complex broadcast electronic equipment, or comparable relevant experience.
- Thorough understanding of broadcast air-chain components and IP-based signal distribution.
- Intermediate networking skills (TCP/IP, routing, switching) and ability to diagnose common network issues.
- Intermediate understanding of modern microwave and Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite technologies.
- Thorough understanding of radio frequency (RF) emissions.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electronic schematics, electrical drawings, and construction blueprints.
- Ability to perform precise calculations for common broadcast-related formulae.
- Expertise in soldering and desoldering electronic components.
- Comprehensive knowledge of applicable broadcast-related FCC rules and regulations.
- Proficiency with standard broadcast test equipment (VOMs, Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzers).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other common software.
- Proven ability to systematically and logically address multiple, complex technical problems.
- Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions and think logically from problem to solution.
- Communicates effectively with grace, respect, and humility; listens well and receives feedback openly.
- Demonstrates lifelong learning, proactively taking personal responsibility for advanced professional development.
