Job Summary/Description:
WLBT is looking for a curious, driven storyteller ready to hit the ground running with the largest news team in the state. If you care deeply about people and the issues that impact all of our lives, and you're excited to tell meaningful stories across platforms, we'd love to hear from you.
Duties/Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Write, shoot, edit, and publish high-impact stories on digital and linear platforms - delivering clean, accurate scripts and strong visuals on deadline
- Generate and pitch smart, curious story ideas in daily editorial meetings
- Research, verify, and elevate reporting by digging into sources, documents, and data
- Develop enterprise angles and follow-ups that add context, accountability, and a solutions-focused perspective when appropriate
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Strong working knowledge of governmental, legal, and civic processes, and the ability to translate complex issues clearly for a broad audience.
- Excellent command of the English language, including strong grammar, spelling, and AP-style writing.
- Solid understanding of the principles, ethics, and standards of fair, accurate journalism, with a commitment to verification and transparency.
- College degree or equivalent military/work experience
