About the Role:
Corus Radio has an exciting opportunity for a Full-Time Broadcast Engineer, Radio Technology in our Ottawa location.
Reporting to the Manager, Technical Infrastructure, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting Radio Operations and Programming daily.
Coupled with this responsibility, you will provide on-going Tier 1 support and maintain the health of on-air and production equipment.
This position is ideally suited to an individual who can collaborate with a diverse team and understands Radio production workflows.
You will contribute by:
- Maintain and repair Corus Ottawa transmitter sites for CJOT-FM and CKQB-FM. Includes scheduled maintenance and emergency repairs (generator, tower, HVAC, building, etc.)
- Maintain and repair Corus Ottawa Radio Studio for CJOT-FM and CKQB-FM. Includes, scheduled maintenance and emergency repairs.
- Administrate and maintain radio automation, on-air production, postproduction hardware/software, and networked systems.
- Assist with daily studio tasks as required. (Tieline connections, audio routing, live setups, etc.).
- Rotating “On Call” duties, plus 24/7 tech support to assist Corus engineers as required.
- Create and maintain engineering documentation. (wire records, inventory, maintenance records, system drawings).
- Troubleshoot and repair broadcast equipment/systems as required.
- Test, install and implement new broadcast equipment.
- Source and order parts and supplies as required.
- Provide assistance and instruction to staff on technical systems.
- Maintain computer and engineering security to be compliant with required business standards, cyber security standards, and audits.
- Coordinate and supervise scheduled maintenance of critical infrastructure systems (HVAC equipment and electrical systems).
- Coordinate with Corus IT to facilitate the maintenance and repair of local office hardware, software, and the corporate LAN/WAN as required.
- Act as engineering/technical liaison with respect to radio personnel or shows.
- Collaborate closely with the Manager, Technical Infrastructure, IT, Cyber Security, Radio Programming and Operations to ensure effective technical support.
- Ensure that Broadcast Standards are met and maintained.
- Working with the IT department on Networking and computer issues.
- Work directly with equipment vendors and suppliers to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
- Provide support to building facilities maintenance as required.
Skills and experience you will bring:
- Recognized certificates in Broadcast Technology, Electronics or Computer Science or equivalent.
- Recognized certificate or experience in IT – Network communications.
- 1-3 years of Radio Broadcast Engineering experience.
- Experience maintaining FM Transmitter sites.
- Telecom RF Experience.
- Knowledge of Radio automation and production workflows.
- Experience troubleshooting faults with Radio Studio, Control Room, and Transmitter equipment.
- Strong knowledge of computers and networking as related to Broadcast systems.
- Experience working on equipment associated with Live Remotes, Microwave and Satellite communications.
- Knowledge of current audio streaming technologies.
- Valid Ontario Driver License Class G mandatory.
