TV & Streaming Editor

Overview
USA TODAY is seeking a TV & Streaming Editor to lead our coverage of television across platforms. This editor will oversee a team of writers and contributors producing TV news, reviews, and enterprising features and profiles. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who can deliver content for the USA TODAY audience and help grow that audience. The editor should also have a deep knowledge of the TV landscape, strong industry relationships (both networks and celeb reps), and a passion for storytelling that connects with diverse audiences.
Responsibilities:
- Editorial Leadership: Oversee all TV coverage, including network and streaming, celebrities in the TV space, and how those things interact with larger cultural trends and moments.
- Content Strategy: Develop, shape and execute editorial coverage, identify market trends and audience interests and adapting growth strategy as needed.
- Team Management: Supervise and mentor TV writers and contributors, guiding story development and editing copy to ensure high editorial standards. Drive news coverage in the TV & Streaming space, including breaking news moments.
- Trend Spotting: Stay ahead of TV trends, programming shifts, and cultural moments to drive timely and relevant coverage.
- Enterprise Reporting: Commission, secure, and edit in-depth features, profiles, and interviews with actors and industry insiders.
- Cross-Platform Collaboration & Innovation: Work with video, social, and audience teams to optimize content for multiple platforms. Help pilot and test automation and AI tools that can bring our great journalism to a wider audience.
- Network Integration: Liaise with USA TODAY NETWORK outlets to coordinate coverage and amplify key stories.
- Quality Control: Ensure all content meets USA TODAY’s editorial standards for accuracy, tone, and style.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in TV or entertainment journalism, including editing and team leadership.
- Core knowledge of the television industry, including streaming and network platforms, and audience behavior.
- Strong editorial judgment and storytelling skills.
- Experience working with CMS, SEO, and analytics tools.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Network of industry contacts and sources.
- Enthusiasm to try new things in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Media and entertainment are changing daily, and we aim to meet the moment.

The annualized base salary for this role will range between $93,000 and $145,313. Base compensation is reflective of many factors, including, but not limited to, the market in which one lives/works, individual education level, skills, certifications and experience. Note: variable compensation is not reflected in these figures and based on the role, may be applicable.
