Position Summary:
The Minnesota Public Radio Archives is seeking to hire a limited term, temporary records management assistant. The position focuses primarily on physical records handling, including moving boxes, shelving, and preparing administrative and legal records for preservation or disposition. The project assistant will report to the Archives Manager and work in consultation to assess and review records suitable for transfer to the Archives’ permanent collections.
This is a grant-funded position and is expected to be approximately three months, as determined by the budget. This role is 24-30 hours/week and is eligible for some benefits.
Expected Compensation Range: $23.00 - $25.00 / hourly. Exact rate determined by experience and education related to the role, organizational compensation structure, and internal equity.
Work Location: On-Site at St. Paul, MN

Position Responsibilities:
- Dispose of records that have met the required retention period according to the organization’s records retention schedule
- Assess and organize records slated for permanent retention and dispose of excessive duplicates
- Organize and label records slated for long-term, but not permanent, retention
- As needed, rehouse records slated for long-term retention into new folder and boxes; perform basis preventative preservation work as needed
- In consultation with the Archives Manager, assess and determine which records should be transferred from custody of the legal department to the Archives
Required Education and Experience:
- Master's of Library and Information Studies or similar degree with records management certification/coursework or demonstrated relevant experience
- Experience organizing and handling large volumes of records in an archives, library, or administrative organizational setting
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Ability to read and interpret rules, follow instructions, and maintain confidentiality of materials
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of records management principles and practices
- Strong organizational skills
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite
- Excellent written and verbal communication
