Do you believe strong local reporting strengthens community engagement? We’re seeking a Local Journalism Initiative (LJI) reporter to live and work in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, covering the public-interest stories that matter most to the region.
This role focuses on local government, public institutions, and community issues that often go underreported. You’ll cover local government, education, health care, public safety, and regional concerns – producing fair, accurate journalism that helps residents understand how decisions are made and how they affect everyday life.
Yorkton is a regional hub for eastern Saskatchewan, serving surrounding rural and First Nations communities. It offers a diverse range of stories, strong civic engagement, and the opportunity to build deep sources and follow issues over time. Your reporting will have real visibility and impact.
Applicant’s must have a valid driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, and be willing to live in Yorkton.

Essential Requirements:
- Ability to be flexible and work both traditional and non-traditional hours.
