Job Summary/Description:
Gray Media is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Staff Accountant to support the Digital Accounting Division. This role is responsible for a broad range of accounting functions, including journal entry preparation, account reconciliations, revenue recognition, expense reclassifications, intercompany accounting, and month-end close activities. The Staff Accountant will work cross-functionally with Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, corporate departments, and individual companies to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting across multiple companies and entities.
Work Environment & Additional Information:
• This position operates within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Collaboration with cross-functional teams including AR, AP, Corporate, Operations, Sales, and station-level accounting staff is essential
• Some tasks are time-sensitive and have hard deadlines
• The role supports multiple companies and entities simultaneously; strong multi-tasking ability is required
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Prepare and post a high volume of monthly journal entries including, but not limited to, revenue and expense allocations and reclassifications, and month-end accruals
• Prepare month-end billing, balance, and maintain accounts receivable
• Maintain positive vendor relationships and provide necessary support
• Coordinate with AP team to address and clear outstanding items in a timely manner
• Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations
• Maintain Fixed Assets
• Calculate and post commissions and bonuses
• Perform monthly variance reporting: Budget vs. Forecast vs. Actuals
• Collect and organize audit support monthly
• Ensure all recurring and ad hoc tasks are completed within established close deadlines
Qualifications/Requirements:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• Minimum 2 years of experience in corporate accounting
• Strong understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting principles
• Proficiency in accounting systems (experience with TM1, Blackline, Wide Orbit, Concur or similar platforms preferred)
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Experience with expense management and reclassification workflows
• Demonstrated ability to manage high-volume, recurring tasks across multiple entities
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to meet strict deadlines
Preferred:
• Experience in media, broadcasting, or digital advertising industries
• Familiarity with intercompany accounting and multi-entity environments
• Experience with reconciliation and certification workflows
• Exposure to commission calculation and accrual processes
