Summary:
The Chicago Tribune is seeking an energetic, creative reporter to help cover breaking news and produce enterprise on the afternoon shift. Some days, this requires running out the door on developing stories. Other times, the successful reporter in this role is
working with editors to brainstorm and prioritize enterprise efforts.
What you will do:
Stay on alert through a variety of sources for big breaking news, including crime, fires, transportation issues and weather
Work with our editors to determine which stories to run out the door on and which to work the phones because of timeliness issues and other factors
Be on the lookout for enterprise opportunities; these could include localizing national stories, follow-ups to previous stories, human-interest news features or other ideas you come up with yourself or are assigned by editors
Work solo at times and with photographers and other reporters on major breaking news or projects

Benefits and Compensation:
The hourly wage is $26.45. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to geographic location, education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, the Company offers eligible employees a variety of benefits including medical, dental, life and disability insurance, 401k, as well as paid time off and select paid holidays (all benefits are based on eligibility). Travel – This position entails occasional driving for work assignments, training sessions, and/or in-person meetings. The employee will be responsible for transporting themselves between different sites as needed
