How We LEAD
UMG’s fraud prevention team is leading the industry by example in fighting the existential threats of streaming fraud and copyright fraud. This analyst role will be responsible for investigating and documenting ongoing patterns of suspicious behavior related to copyright infringement and streaming fraud taking place on DSPs and social media platforms. This is a hybrid role based out of UMG’s Santa Monica office.
How You'll Create
- Responsible for monitoring UGC trends involving UMG repertoire and tracking bad actors exploiting these trends with infringing deliveries.
- Analyze large sets of data containing potential infringements, categorize and spot trends as they appear.
- Search the internet for improperly monetized trends and share with Content Protection for removal.
- Work with distributed UMG labels to make sure our catalog continues to be free from infringement.
- Use various forms of music recognition technology to dig deeper into trends on social media and surface examples of bad behavior.
Bring Your VIBE
- 2-5 years of experience working in a digital rights management or content protection role.
- A great ear - in addition to dealing with large amounts of data, the role will involve a lot of close listening to determine if infringement has occurred. You'll need to be able to tell if altered and remixed audio is using the original sound recording or if it's a soundalike cover.
- Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented - able to maintain and create new spreadsheets documenting your work.
- Experience with Python or similar tools to automate data extraction is a plus.
- An operational understanding of the digital music landscape and ecosystem, the ideal candidate is passionate about Internet remix culture but wants the correct artists and rightsholders to receive attribution and royalties.
- Familiarity with UMG repertoire and YouTube ContentID or similar is a plus.
- Analytical skills with the ability to extrapolate insights from data independently and share these findings with other team members.
