Job Summary/Description:
Atlanta News First (WANF) is looking for an experienced traffic anchor/ reporter to join our First Alert Weather and Traffic team. Atlanta is notorious for its traffic, but you can help viewers get around the mess, save time, and stay safe.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Produce and anchor compelling, informative, accurate traffic reports throughout our morning newscasts
- Monitor traffic throughout the Atlanta DMA, evaluate and report appropriately and in a timely manner on broadcast, digital, and streaming platforms
- Build maps and graphics to effectively communicate traffic information to viewers/ users across platforms
- Communicate clearly and effectively with sources, assignment editors, producers, executive producers, and meteorologists to coordinate and disseminate important information
- Report on long-term traffic projects and other related topics
- Report on significant traffic issues live from the First Alert Breaking News Tracker as assigned
- Profile the organization selected to benefit from the 3 Degree Guarantee in a feature package and web story each month
- Participate in community events on behalf of the station
- Report live from community events as assigned
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
- A degree in journalism or a related field is preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience as an on-air reporter or MMJ
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a traffic anchor, meteorologist, or weather forecaster
- Medium/ large market experience preferred
- Experience with Max products from the Weather Channel preferred; experience with Baron is a plus, but not required
- Outstanding communication and organizational skills are required
- Ability to manage time effectively and work under tight deadlines in a constantly changing environment
- Must provide a link to examples of recent work
