Position Summary
The Network Partnerships Analyst (Local) is responsible for conducting analysis and project management for all matters related to team local media distribution (e.g., television, streaming, and radio distribution) across all NBA-affiliated leagues (NBA, WNBA, G League). In this pursuit, you will collaborate across many League Office departments (e.g., legal, finance, broadcasting, broadcasting operations, etc.) and teams, helping our leagues reach millions of fans through an ever-changing media landscape.
We are looking for someone who has a passion for keeping abreast of trends in the local media and media distribution landscapes and can advise and educate both internal stakeholders and teams. Additionally, the ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume, rigorous environment in which no two days are the same and will enjoy responding to new challenges and the intellectual exercises of making connections and working through problems.
Major Responsibilities
- Help advise and provide guidance to teams at every step of their local media deal lifecycles
- Update and maintain contractual and financial summaries and other relevant information about each team's media distribution arrangements
- Collaborate with Media Distribution & Partnerships, Legal, Direct-to-Consumer, and Finance on a variety of projects assessing potential impacts on team and league business lines.
- Develop a strong understanding of each league’s media rules and regulations, and use this knowledge to prepare senior leadership for internal and external meetings; present to and advise teams with respect to these rules
- Work with Legal to review agreements related to local media distribution
- Collaborate with the Broadcast Scheduling team on various scheduling-related issues, including analyzing potential impact on local team media distribution
- Analyze and aggregate key industry data relating to local media rights ownership, TV & streaming viewership, and provider reach/penetration.
- Collect, maintain, and analyze local media distribution data; spot key trends to help drive league strategy
- Provide analysis and project management support for certain League financial procedures and other requested financial analyses
Other Projects & Business Lines:
- Participate in cross-departmental short- and long-term strategy projects
- Monitor and be a subject-matter expert on developments in the domestic media landscape, including with respect to other sports leagues
- Support senior leaders across additional business lines such as photo- and footage-licensing
- Collaborate with Advertising Operations in tracking all in-game advertising inventory
- Collect and organize documentation required to be submitted by teams to the league; help maintain a summary database of such documentation
- Maintain calendar and ensure senior leaders are aware of upcoming contractual deadlines and requirements such as payment due dates, election dates, contractual expirations, etc
Required Skills/Knowledge
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Interest and experience in translating contractual language to intermediate-level financial modeling and analysis
- Deep understanding of the rapidly evolving media distribution landscape
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to relay findings concisely and accurately to senior leaders
- Ability to make timely, nuanced, and targeted recommendations for business decisions based on reasoned analysis and the strategic objectives of the organization
- Basic understanding of the structure and function of contracts or an interest in learning
- Self-sufficient and able to work with little direct supervision in an extremely fast-paced environment
- Ability to prioritize between multiple high-impact, timely projects
Education
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 1+ year(s) of experience with a tie to media distribution or league/team partnership businesses
Salary Range
$85,000 - $100,000
