Position Summary
The 2026 NBA Summer Internship is a 10-week program that runs from June 8 – August 14, 2026. The program gives participants the opportunity to learn about basketball, develop critical career skills, and contribute to meaningful projects across a range of departments in the NBA and its affiliate leagues (WNBA, G League, NBA 2K). In addition to on-the-job experience, interns are invited to participate in a broad array of professional development programs and community and social experiences.
The program prioritizes rising seniors, with limited exceptions for graduate students, based on business need.
Interns should reflect excellent academic standing and have strong written and verbal communication skills. Additionally, we look for candidates who possess leadership skills as demonstrated through relevant extracurricular or community activities.

Role Overview
Selected interns will support the league’s internal and external technology working on reporting, analysis, testing, coding, incident review, troubleshooting, and technical support, across a range of technology products, applications, and operations.
Past interns have been placed in range of departments including:
- Direct-to-Consumer (DTC), whose suite of digital products includes NBA League Pass, the NBA App, and NBA ID
- Information Technology, which designs, develops and maintains systems and technical infrastructure that support the League’s global operations
- Media Operations & Technology, which is responsible for some of the technology behind the domestic and international distribution of NBA Broadcasts and Content
Major Responsibilities
May include, but not limited to:
- Writing TypeScript/JavaScript code for NBA products across the ever-growing ecosystem of HTML5 powered connected devices (Xbox, PlayStation, Samsung, Hisense, Chromecast, Comcast and others)
- Contributing to IAM (Identity Access Management) projects, assisting in auditing, reporting, and updating data and documentation on the company’s current IAM policies to identify potential areas of improvement or non-compliance
- Editing training materials and sessions to educate employees about secure password practices, authentication procedures, and the importance of IAM
- Collaborating with IT and cybersecurity teams to align IAM practices with broader security strategies and compliance requirements
- Completing trend analyses, including reviewing events and incidents and providing summary reports
- Iterating AIOPs ML modules based on updated insights and learnings
- Identifying and resolving technical issues and bugs across NBA products and websites
- Integrating data from various sources, such as player statistics, schedules, and live scores, into the website using APIs to enhance the site's content
Required Education & Professional Experience
- Enrolled in an undergraduate program and entering Senior year in the academic year following the internship
- These roles are open to all but typically best suited for individuals in the following majors: Computer Science, Business or Data Analysis, Engineering, Software Design
