Radio One is currently looking for a Part-Time Mixer to join our DC team! A Mixer performs activities in the radio studio and control room to ensure technical quality of sound for programs originating in the studio, syndications, and/or from remote pickup points.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Airing live and pre-recorded shows in accordance with daily programming schedules
- All commercials and promos as scheduled
- Complete traffic logs and accurately log discrepancies or missing elements
- Airing emergency alert system tests as required
- Engineering remote broadcasts and following station procedures
- Maintain smooth transitions between music, commercials, and programming elements
- Operate studio equipment during live shows including boards, delay units, phone systems, and automation software
- Monitor audio levels, signal quality, and overall broadcast performance
- Ensure proper recording, saving, and playback of segments as needed
- Follow FCC, company, and station policies around content, timing, and required announcements
- Provide timely updates on discrepancies, missing spots, or automation errors
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Excellent organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize and effectively manage time
- Self-starter, with the ability to take and follow direction
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interact effectively with the station’s clients and listeners
- Can work well independently and as an integral part of the team
- Ability to stand for long periods of time, and lift/move up to 50 lbs
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Six months of experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be available to work nights, weekends and holidays.
