SESAC PRO is looking for a Manager, Business Affairs to join our team in Nashville. As the Manager, Business Affairs you will be responsible for the management and tracking of key writer and publisher agreements and providing accurate and timely support to the Legal, Creative, Finance, and Royalty Distribution & Research Services (“RDRS”) Departments concerning such matters. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, have exceptional attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Administration, management, and tracking of SESAC PRO’s key writer and publisher agreements:
- Receive initial affiliate supplemental agreement requests (“deal memos”) from the Creative Department and review for errors and missing information.
- Approve applicable Business Affairs Department terms and shepherd deal memo through the agreement lifecycle from approvals to execution.
- Develop and maintain familiarity with the Business Affairs Department contract templates and other affiliations documents.
- Develop and maintain familiarity with affiliate deal structures.
- Liaise with the Finance Department to schedule, release, and recoup payments related to supplemental agreements.
- Manage and maintain the Account Contract Monetary Interface (“ACMI”) system:
- Create, manage, and modify ACMI records and supervise contract administration of executed supplemental agreements.
- Establish, generate, maintain, and disseminate all reports with respect to the ACMI system including cash requirements, affiliate supplemental metrics, etc.
- Supervise deal recoupments, contingent payments, and notify internal stakeholders as necessary.
- Interface with the Finance Department as necessary with respect to the monitoring, collection, and ACMI maintenance in connection with the receipt of other recoupable monies.
- Interface with the RDRS Department as necessary with respect to pre-and post-distribution issues and troubleshooting in connection with affiliate royalty distributions.
- In conjunction with the Creative, Finance, and RDRS Departments maintain and monitor policies and procedures with respect to the supplemental agreement process.
- Prepare and communicate weekly/monthly/quarterly reports to the Creative and Finance Departments with respect to new agreements in the pipeline, deal expirations, renewal deadlines, etc.
- Manage and maintain various Microsoft Planner project trackers.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of SESAC PRO’s internal systems and applications.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of the CISAC Interested Party Information (“IPI”) database.
- Maintain open lines of communication between the Business Affairs Department and the Legal, Creative, Finance, and RDRS Departments with respect to affiliate supplemental agreement matters.
- Communicate with SESAC PRO writer and/or publisher affiliates legal, business, and management teams as necessary, addressing pertinent inquiries/questions/concerns relating to deal structure, contract administration, royalty distributions, and other services.
- In conjunction with the Creative Department administration team, manage SESAC PRO affiliations document repository (LaserFiche/OpenText) maintenance.
- Ad-hoc projects as assigned.
What Makes you Qualified:
- Bachelors degree in music business, related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years experience with a music publisher, performing rights organization, or comparable entity.
- An ability to recognize and solve business problems as they arise.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and a proven ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
- An ability to stay organized, motivated and an ability to effectively prioritize and manage workload to ensure established deadlines are met.
- Excellent analytical skills and proficiency with MS Office applications including Excel.
- Knowledge of music business (performing rights organizations, publishing, administration) is a plus.
