Job Description
As a Sports Reporter, you will be a key member of our news team, responsible for generating story ideas, conducting interviews, and developing sources to create impactful content. You will work closely with our news managers and producers to craft unique, enterprise-focused stories with exclusive content. Your role is crucial in ensuring our newscasts are engaging and informative, providing our audience with the latest news and insights.
Responsibilities
- Plan, research, and execute day-of news stories and special projects.
- Collaborate with photographers or work independently to gather and edit video and audio content.
- Develop a network of sources to receive tips, access information, and break significant stories.
- Contribute multimedia updates to mobile platforms throughout the day.
- Manage multiple stories and projects simultaneously, meeting tight deadlines.
- Maintain journalistic integrity and adhere to ethical standards in all reporting.
- Work varied shifts, including overnights and weekends, to cover breaking news.
- Engage with the community and build relationships to enhance our news coverage.
- Stay updated on industry trends and technologies to enhance reporting skills.
Qualifications
- Professional or college reporting experience with a proven track record.
- Experience in enterprise reporting and uncovering exclusive details.
- A demo reel showcasing your ability to create compelling content.
- Excellent writing skills to craft clear and engaging copy.
- Proficiency in operating mobile transmission devices and adapting to new technologies.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and manage time-sensitive tasks.
- A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
- A passion for journalism and a commitment to ethical reporting practices.
- A willingness to learn and adapt to the evolving media landscape.
